From Spring to Autumn, the villages of Languedoc celebrate their St Patron festival, and there is not the tiniest village who does not have its festival; if you drive in the countryside, specially on week ends you cannot miss one of them!
Driving not far from Béziers I have been stopped by a traffic jam in the village of Sauvian (Road D 19, 10 km south of Béziers): there was a festival, and I stopped my car and decided to take a break and visit the village and watch to what happened.
During day time, in the morning are parades where the local clubs and associations emulate in making the most beautiful carriage, made mostly with paper flowers, representing some story, symbol, dreams, foreign exotic places. . . . . . other clubs bring their brass bands, other train dances all year long for that special day. . . . . Just a good mood atmosphere. . . ! Have a look:
Dream of Venezia (picture 1), with a wary gondolieri behind the tractor, dancing local beauties (picture 2); Belgium with its beers is exotic too (picture 3), as is sunny Spain (picture 4). And what would a parade be without musicians (picture 5) ?
