Languedoc is not far from Spain, and people here like to live late at night, enjoy dancing and music. There are lots of festivals, and of course, on the summer solstice, like now in most European countries (after French Culture minister, J. Lang, inaugurated it in 1982, from an idea of musician J. Cohen who worked at Radio France) is the ?night of music?, and in Bedarrieux, like in many places, this festival takes place in the streets.
So Spanish dances and music (picture 1), people enjoying the music at café terraces, in the mild weather (picture 2). Walk in the streets, you may find other types of music and dancers (picture 3), (picture 4).
This here is the solstice festival, but for the saint patron festivities (like everywhere in Langudoc), there is music in the streets, too, and mixing up with locals at that time is most enjoyable, just take care, there is also lots of alcohol flowing. . . . .
All sorts of music, and this guy (picture 5) waits his turn before showing his skills to the audience. . . . Enjoy. . . !
Bedarrieux is located 35 km North of Béziers at the crossing between RD 908 (coming from the East (Motorway, or Montpellier) and RD 909, coming from the south (Beziers).
