"Want a little more comfort?" Comfort Hotel St. Petersburg Tip by TheWanderingCamel

I haven't stayed at the Comfort Hotel but MrL has and was more than happy with it. The hotel is in the same building as the Herzen House Hotel (qv) so everything I've said about the hotel's location applies here - it's brilliant.

Owned by the same people as the Herzen House, it is run on identical lines but is a notch above the Herzen in style and price.

As I haven't actually stayed there I'll leave it to you to check the details on the website, but I think being voted No 3 on Trip Advisor's list of St Petersburg hotels says it all.

Unique Qualities: The hotel building dates back to 1843, and was famous (or infamous maybe) in its day for a restaurant maintained there by the owner that was a favourite haunt of Army officers - maybe it's their ghosts that occupy the mysterious fifth floor.

Fans of Fabergé may want to note that he opened his first shop just along the road from the hotel, at 16-18 Bolshaya Morskaya. The building is still there, and still occupied by a jeweller, though not one to rival the master. It still displays the name Fabergé on the door.
