Among the famous places to visit just outside of the center of Paris, one can find at the last stop on the RER Line A the National Antiquities Museum. It occupies what was the Palace of France until Versailles was finished, including two Chateaux and immense gardens built by Le Notre. Napoleon III restored it to its earlier appearance in the 19C. The Museum was installed at the same time. It is one of the best museums of this type in the world. Particulary fine are the items from Gaulic times.
