Ferni and I arrived in San Francisco on a late flight and we were quite hungry. Since our hotel was within walking distance of North Beach, we decided to walk on over there and see what we could find open. Very few places serve food fast 11:00 pm (or so), like a few pizza joints, Calzones and few others. We walked all over North Beach and many of the places that were open just didn't have what we were craving, until we happen upon Buster's.

This is a little dive place. It can barely fit 15 people max, all sitting on the counter. The kitchen if you can call it that is right behind the counter and the girll and food stations are all within sight. There is no menu except a board above the counter with quite a few choices of cheesesteaks, burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches as well as fries and assorted drinks.

The draw here of course is the cheese steak and I will tell you that they are absolutely delicious!! You have your choice of 5 different cheeses, including cheez whiz, as well as onions, peppers, etc to go on your cheese steak.

The cook slaps the steak on the grill and gets working, and your sandwich is served on your choice of hoagy size within minutes!!

We were quite pleased with our sandwiches and would definitely come back if we are in the area, the best part about this place is that they are open til 4 am on weekends!

Favorite Dish: I had the cheesesteak with cheddar cheese, onions and peppers, Ferni had his with provolone cheese.

The prices of the cheese steaks range from $6.95 - $7.95.
