Churya-a Hotel & Restaurant: "Right at the crossroads" Bontoc Hotel Tip by lakbayPinas
Bontoc Hotels: 4 reviews and 7 photos
Located along the national highway in Bontoc, Churya-a Hotel & Restaurant is one of the very few accommodations available in Bontoc.
The hotel is situated in a five storey building with a veranda on each floor, offering a nice view of Bontoc proper along the national road. The front desk and the restaurant are both located on the second floor.
The rooms are quite basic with a private toilet and bath. Price while I was there (October 2008) was Php 400 for a room with a double bed. Like most accommodations in the Cordilleras, the rooms have no air-conditioning, TV or phone. An electric fan more than suffices though, as Bontoc enjoys fairly cool weather during most of the year.
An Internet café is a short walk away from the hotel.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and can contact local guides for those who intend to venture out into the remote towns of the province.
Unique Qualities: Nothing really fancy here, just a nice simple place to stay while in Bontoc.
I was even fortunate enough to have met the owner, Mr. Daniel Peckley, who happened to be at the restaurant while I was having breakfast. The Peckleys also own the Churya-a in Sagada, and it so happened that on that same day, he was going to Sagada just as I was. So he offered me to just ride with him, which I readily obliged. :)
