The Odyssey Restaurant: "Holiday Champagne Brunch near LA - Excellent!" Granada Hills Restaurant Tip by ecodave

My family and I enjoyed a superb holiday Champagne brunch at the
Odyssey Restaurant with a hilltop view of the San Fernando Valley.
There are few choices for quality dining on Thanksgiving Day and
Christmas Day. We have chosen this restaurant occasionally over many
years including both holidays in 2009. The atmosphere, buffet
selections, and service have been consistently excellent.

I enjoy taking a stroll around the restaurant to take in the views
(some caution is necessary on the east side boardwalk, especially if
you are wearing narrow heals). The entry features a koi pond with
fountains. The hostesses were pleasant and the wait staff were
courteous and helpful. Being a self-service buffet, including juices,
offset the occasional delay in getting attention for ordering coffee
and getting the bill. We were very comfortable taking all the time we

This restaurant regularly hosts banquets and receptions in several large
rooms where they seat larger parties for the holiday brunch (without the
Valley view). Here, there are big round tables
which I found worked well for our family gathering. These rooms
have a second buffet with most items and, still, it is not far for the
omelets and carving station.

Favorite Dish: I like to take in the buffet in many small courses. First, some
lighter fare at the salad bar and a made-while-I-waited omelet. Then,
I visited the carving station for turkey and all the fixin's. There's
the seafood bar with whole steamed salmon,
crab legs, shrimp, and freshly made sushi. They have a long table
stocked with entrees of lamb shanks, beef, sausage, eggs, mashed
potatoes, Eggs Benedict, and more. There was an assortment of bread. I
like the selection of fresh fruit. And, oh, the dessert bar! This year, they
had a chocolate fountain to dip your strawberries, along with a wide
assortment of pies and cakes with various toppings available.

Considering the free-flowing Champagne, the price around $35 per
person seems reasonable.
