The Aboriginal people of this area were nomads. At the Tjapukai Cultural Center there is a model village, with the circular small huts that they built for each encampment.

A 'field foods' demonstration shows how people lived before settled agriculture developed.
There is also a cultural show that includes the playing of the didgeridoo and a demonstration of some of the different dances that were performed before going out to hunt different animals by the Aboriginal people of that area.

There is a day tour and a night tour. I took the day tour. It was fascinating. I learned so much about their way of life before the white man came to OZ.

It is a fun tour too. Visitors are given a chance to try to throw a boomerang - don't even ask! I couldn't get it to fly at all.

Shuttle transfer available or use Public transport: Either via taxi service direct to and from Tjapukai, or by the Marlin Coast Sunbus using Route 1X from the Cairns Central Business District City Place bus stop or Palm Cove. Costs vary, depending on the bus zone travelled.
