Red Fort, Delhi: 121 reviews and 295 photos

The Diwan-i-Am, or Hall of Audiences is the next building you come to. It is a rectangular structure formed of red sandstone arches, 9 arches across and three deep. At the back of the hall stands a marble canopy, under which the emperor's throne would have been placed while he received the general public and heard complaints. The marble dais underneath would have been where his prime minister stood. Originally the pillars would have been painted gold, and a gold and silver railing would have separated the throne from the petitioners.

It's a very atmospheric place, and makes for wonderful photos!
