"The Bear" is probably one of the weirdest pubs I've been to. It's comparatively small with very low ceilings (the building it is in dates back to the 17th century, but there already was a pub in 1242!) and every possible square inch is decorated with ties. The tips of the ties, to be specific, which have been collected here since 1950. It is said that there are more than 5000 tie tips in this pub, so you can imagine just how full the walls and ceilings are. Several of them are put up in groups, such as "rugby club ties", "golf club ties", "college ties" and the like. I don't know if it is true, but rumours have it that the owner pays for a pint if you "donate" your tie.
