Climb the Rock of Cashel and wander around the ancient ruins. This is the former royal site of the kings of Munster, and there are ruins of a huge cathedral and a round tower to match this.
The Rock is a limestone protrusion our of a fairly flat and fertile country. You can see this spectacular site from afar and it only gets more picturesque as you get closer.

Directions: Cashel is located in the couth of county Tipperary, between Dublin and Cork and about 2 hours by car from the capital.
