"The Fountain" Le Jet d'Eau Tip by Maria81

Le Jet d'Eau, Geneva: 44 reviews and 78 photos

History

What is today Geneva's main tourist attraction used to be simply a security valve at the Coulouvrenière hydraulic factory, it became the symbol of the city when it was transferred to the "rade".

Today

500 litres of water per second are pumped to a height of almost 150 metres at a speed of 200 km per hour, with lighting during the evenings. You can come up close to the fountain, but beware - it can (and probably will!) get slippery and wet
