Walking Around, Paris: 155 reviews and 439 photos
This cul-de-sac, which in fact is not one, as you can turn left at the end and get out through a door onto rue Vieille du Temple, has remained medieval in its aspect. Rather sombre with its walls closing in and the uneven paving stones. Takes its name from the field opposite where soldiers exercised and shot their crossbows. It is also reputed to be the place where Louis the Duke of Orleans was murdered in 1407. The entrance to the cul-de-sac is at 36 rue des Francs-Bourgeois, you cannot enter via rue Vieille du Temple.
Nearest metros are St. Paul and Rambuteau.
