CHIJMES IS BEAUTIFUL!
THE HISTORY OF CHIJMES........Established in 1854,
it was once the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus.
The construction of the Chapel which is built in Neo - Gothic style, started in 1901 and was completed 1904. The stained-glass windows were made by a Belgian artist and the two storey galleries at both sides of the Chapel were added around 1913 in the same neo-gothic style....................
it is simply stunning!
It is now a dining, shopping and entertainment site and the restored chapel, is used for musicals, recitals, theatrical performances and weddings.
It is said to resemble London's Covent Garden, I can't say, as I haven't been, but it is very nice with lawns, a sunken forecourt, water features, and wall murals.......lovely area for fine dining and for those specialty souvenirs!
The shops open at 11am, and you will find many Boutique ones here.
Address: 30 Victoria street, Singapore
Directions: Chijmes is just across the road from Singapore's busiest MRT station, City Hall (exit A).
Near Raffles Hotel
