Hussong's Cantina. Mention that name and if you know it, a large smile will spread across your face. This is the birthplace of the Margarita Drink. Yep! Right here in Ensenada in 1941, the bartender made it for the daughter of the German Ambassador of Germany. Okay, you know the rest. Her name was Margarita. Many Margaritas have been served here since and it is still just a bar. I say that in all respect, as there are no flashy bar stools with girls dancing on top or loud trash music. Oh, there are peanut shells scattered on the floor and the five piece band starts up or the Mariachis stroll in thumbing their guitars and lipping the horn while you tip a tequila glass to the ceiling and yell "Ole!"

Hussong's Cantina may not look like a bar you are accoustomed to seeing for it is without any fanfare or fancy wording with neon lighting. There is neon but only to tell you Tecate Beer is here and the name Hussong's. But, it is a legend and one you should not miss. Go inside and slip into yesteryear. Belly up to the bar, Amigo!

Dress Code: Leave your weapons outside. No gunfire allowed. That was the rule in 1892 and it still stands today. Well, it was a tie your pony up, and come on in and sit down for a tequila or cerveza. Dress code, I don't think so. It's actually quite nice inside and no problems for the timid.
