"Lake Jarun" Lake Jarun Tip by canaglic

Lake Jarun, Zagreb: 21 reviews and 55 photos

In the south-western part of the city, not far from the Sava embankment, surrounded by three more recent parts of the city, the passer-by will immediately notice the lovely pebbly beaches and clear waters of the Lake Jarun. It is a real green oasis, especially in those newer parts of the city and with probably the youngest inhabitants. RSC Jarun was constructed at the time of the 1987 University Games and its contents have been improving year after year. Jarun is now the place where many various sports can be practised. It has many cyclist and running paths, as well as trim-paths. However, more attention has recently been paid to collective sports. Five volley-ball sand playgrounds have been set up, a concrete playground has been arranged for football, hand-ball and field ball, and there is also a mini-bowling alley. Table-tennis lovers will also be satisfied as there are 15 tables provided for them. Apart from bathing and sun-bathing one can also enjoy water-skiing and sports fishing on the lake. The practical value of Jarun is its untouched nature along the Isle of the Wild. Here there is a well preserved swamp and pool community inhabited by land and aqua flora, with about 100 species of bird and numerous varieties of fish, water insects and animals.
