My luck with pub food has been hit or miss lately. So, it was with some trepidation that Lee and I settled on Shenanigan's. We noticed it cattywampus from Dot's Back Inn when we ate there a short while before. Just like before, it takes some doing and you really have to go some through dodgy neighbourhoods to find either place. Both are designed to be neighbourhood places off the beaten path. Shenanigan's functions first and foremost as a bar with live entertainment and karaoke some nights, but its menu is rather diverse and outside the box in terms of pub food. The food was fixed lightning fast, but when it came to refilling drinks and taking the cheque, the waitress took her own sweet time.

Favorite Dish: I had the Cuban pork served with carmelised onions with rice pilaf and a zucchini-squash medley. The pork was tender and flavourful, the onions were perfectly cooked, the rice and the vegetables were also good. My only beef with the dish is, if they want to go the Cuban route, they should serve it with black beans and rice (cheap as chips to have on the menu and prepare).
