"Amtrak through Naperville" Naperville Transportation Tip by Toughluck
Naperville Transportation: 5 reviews and 9 photos
While we drove to Naperville to catch the train, Amtrak does stop twice a day in Naperville. The outbound train from Chicago (the east end of the Southwest Chief) arrives at about 3:50 p.m. daily. It follows the Metra commuter line. Actually, they both follow the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Freight line.
While sitting in the station, you'll have the chance to see numerous frieghts, communters and Amtrak passenger trains come through.
West Bound -- There are about three trains a day through Naperville. As I said above, the Southwest Chief arrives about 3:50 p.m. From here, it heads west across Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado (southern), New Mexico (northern), Arizona and ends in Los Angeles, California.
East Bound -- Again there are three trains a day. The Southwest Chief arrives around 2:00 p.m. from the west.
