There is a vast aray of fauna within just the confines of Carizo Plain National Mounment. Spring is the best time to see the wild flowers blooming. They even offer wild flower tours during this time from The Goodwin Education Center. It offers weekend tours during April and May to Soda Lake and Painted Rock, allowing the visitor to learn about wildflowers and other fascinating features on the Carrizo Plain. Please call in advance (805-475-2131) for reservations as space is limited.
These plants can be seen along the Soda Lake trail to the boardwalk and along the trail of Painted Rock. Lots of beautiful blooming yellow flowers.
