It is happening right here in Westlake Village proper. A vineyard is being born on the property of the Westlake Village Inn. I don't know the landscape artist, but it looks like it will be a true vineyard ala Napa, well, a mini-Napa. Olive trees outline the property with beauty and grace. A water fountain will embrace the northeast corner of Agoura Road and Lakeview Canyon Road. Intertwined with the vines will be rose bushes with their magical drawing scent. Three separate areas of vines, hopefully three varietals have been planted. Mediterraneo is located behind the vineyard. Very dramatic and romantic. A hint of Tuscany fills the air.

If you are interested on where wine starts, then do come over to check the vineyard at the Westlake Village Inn Resort. You will see up close the H brace end posts and the line posts with the tight tension wire that hold the grape vines and grapes off the ground. The irrigation hoses placed at each vine for watering when needed. The most important part of a vineyard, the vine. See how it is placed for guidance on the wires and the leaves and grapes, in season, in all their glory. I better get my wine future order in now for the first release in about four years. If not for me, then my family. Since I first wrote about the vineyard, the first crush for bottling has taken place in August 2012 and a new wine should be ready within two years. In the meantime an addition has been opened as of November 1, 2012, called Stonehaus. It is a wine bar and light snack restaurant next door to Mediterraneo. This is a new refreshing spot to sip a few of the wines for both tastings and glass or bottle.
