Favorite thing: Oscar Niemeyer is one of the most important persons in the history of Brazil.
He is an architect that is first of all known for being the person who was behind the creation of the capital Brasilia, but he has created many buildings and cities in Brazil and for that matter around the world.
He was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1907 and is at the time of writing (november 2009) still alive.
One of the more controcversial things about Niemeyer is that he has been a member of the communist party for most of his life and at one point even been the leader of the brazilian communist party and been send in to exile at one point because of that.
His architecture is very futuristic and very science fiction like it is mostly so that you either love his works or hate them.
