A good choice for a splurge experience, Salon de Ning is the rooftop bar of the Peninsula Hotel.
It has its own dedicated elevator, to the right after entering the lobby.The best time to get here is just before sunset so you can see the city turn from day to night. There are exquisite views up and down 5th Ave. The drinks are hideously expensive but since you can linger for an hour or so and enjoy the view it's a very nice pre-dinner experience.
