"Japanese Mochi from Konbini Store" Tokyo Local Custom Tip by machomikemd
Tokyo Local Customs: 262 reviews and 503 photos
Mochi Sticky Rice is a generic in Japan and every town and every region in Japan has it's own kind of mochi with any kind of fillings inside. This version which I bought at the 7-11 konbini is available into mini 2 piece plastic packs and the food color is pink and the filling inside is a kind of sweet azuki bean and is very sweet! the consistency is soft and chewy and is not similar to the mochi green tea I've tasted in the lake kawaguchi area near mount fuji in 1986. The Mochi cost about 60 yen at the konbini store. the mochi is similar to the chinese nian gao or butchi in filipino.
