"Maisel synagogue" Maisel Synagogue Tip by Raimix

Maisel Synagogue, Prague: 8 reviews and 14 photos

Synagogue that we see now was built in 1893 – 1905 in neo – Gothic style. The first Jewish temple here was constructed in 1592, Renaissance style, after a bit more than 100 years it was badly damaged by fire.

It is interesting fact, that from 1960’s place had an exhibition of Jewish books, textile, silver, that was moved here by Nazis, who wanted to do museum for Jewish ghetto.

Ironically, museum was made as entertainment for people, who were killed later, it was just time question.

Address: Josefov.
Directions: From Old-Town Square about 5min north-west.
