Charles Bridge, Prague: 413 reviews and 765 photos

Charles Bridge is well known medieval bridge in Europe and probably in whole World. It is an artery of Prague, connecting sides of Royal Road, starting from Powder Tower in Old town and ending at Mala Strana suburb and Prague castle.

Construction of bridge started at 1357 in Charles IV times, its architect was Peter Parler, one who designed some parts of St. Vitus Cathedral. There was even older bridge here, called Judith Bridge, but it was badly damaged in 1342.

Statues on bridge were added from 1683, about 30 of them exist. Famous St. Nepomuk statue was the first here, and actually the most touched one by visitors of Prague nowadays. It is told, that one who touched sooner or later returns to this beautiful city.

It is the one of fairy – tale style places in Prague, especially when sun just goes up or hides away.
