"Ngoma border warning" Katima Mulilo Warnings Or Dangers Tip by georeiser
Katima Mulilo Warnings and Dangers: 1 reviews and 4 photos
If you travel from Katima Mulilo to Botswana, make sure to go all the way to Kasane and DON'T stop your journey at the border. It's nothing to do on the Namibian side except for staying at the Chobe bridge. (It's only a low bridge over some wetlands, and not a flowing river). The nearest inhabited place on the Namibian side is 5 km away, but it is the most primitive village you can imagine. The Botswana side is even more deserted with Chobe game reserve after you pass the border. It's not allowed to walk there due to the dangerous animals. And the road is closed at night.
My taxi driver from Katima Mulilo had forgotten his passport and couldn't drive into Botswana. So I had to go off here. I thought it wouldn't be so difficult to take a taxi or bus from the Botswana side. But it was nobody here except for some dutch speaking people with 3-4 safari cars. I think they were in family because one guy had his mother in the other car. I kindly asked to pay for a ride to Kasane, but they refused it (August 1, 2009).
A South-African truck-driver was stuck at the customs on the Botswana side without enough money to cross Botswana with his truck, so I paid the 200 Pula and joined his truck to Kasane.
