Burnham's Canalside Restaurant: "Expensive but very good" Newark Restaurant Tip by davecallahan

This is a very nice restaurant situated alongside the Quality Inn. In fact, the entrance to the restaurant is through the lobby of the motel.
The place is very open but not very echoy (is that a word?). You can choose a corner table for a quiet conversation or join a large group at one of the extended tables or pick a table-for-four in the center of the room. The hostess and waitresses are very pleasant and will do their best to make you feel comfortable. The decor is white and red with heavy dark furnishings. There is a salad bar that runs the length of the south wall.
The prices are higher than typical for this area: $15 for chicken and $22 for steaks. But the portions are large and tasty and come with the salad bar and either pasta or potato. Throw in a mixed drink to start and a coffee to end and the price is easily $30 per person (tax and gratuity included).
Favorite Dish: any of the chicken choices (marsala or with cheese or french) are delicious and require a doggy bag to take the remainder home.
Address: 125 North Main Street
Price Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: just go to the intersection of route 31 and route 88 (Main Street) and go north, just over the bridge on the west side of the road.
