"Het Calmeynbos - Go For A Walk In The Woods" Adinkerke Things to Do Tip by johngayton
Adinkerke Things to Do: 9 reviews and 15 photos
This is a large nature reserve between the two towns on what is one of the major stretches of Flemish sand dunes, the Westhoek Dunes. The area was planted by the agriculturist Maurice Calmeyn in 1903 and has been a designated protected landscape since 1935.
The reserve is criss-crossed with public footpaths but otherwise is left pretty much to nature and by all accounts maintains a rich biodiversity.
I didn't have time for more than a peek this visit but it certainly looks tranquil and would be an ideal place to stroll after a proper Belgian lunch at one of the nearby restaurants.
Address: Het Calmeynbos, Adinkerke/De Panne
Directions: Between the two towns, a short walk up from the railway station.
