  • TAMROOKUM CHURCH - Rathdowney

This Church is located halfway between Rathdowney and Beaudesert.
You can't miss it when travelling on the main road, as it is situated on a hill overlooking the valley.
Its a heritage listed Anglican church.

The family owned timber church, was built in 1915 when it was dedicated by the Archbishop of Brisbane, in memory of Robert Collins (1843-1913) Pastoralist John Collins, bought the land in 1878, and in 1879, his eldest son Robert Collins , took up residence after his marriage to Arabella Smyth.
In 1886 he became the owner. He was responsible for the establishment of Lamington National Park, proclaimed in 1915 after his death.

The Church includes many memorial gifts. The double entrance gates, the flagpole and sundial, all come from the homestead which was demolished when Arabella collins died.
