Low tide, and the walk across to King Island
by balhannah

Your still here, at Wellington Point!!

At Low Tide ONLY, you can walk across a sand spit to little King Island and explore this National Parks conservation area.
It is thought that it was once used by the Aboriginals, as a food collecting area.
AN important conservation area for migratory wading birds,
... ALSO .......
Look out for Dolphins and Turtles in the surrounding waters and mangroves.

A little bit more history of the Island.....

King Island became the home of the Phillips family from December 1904 until April 1906. One of the children in the family suffered from polio and medical advice of the day recommended salt water bathing and sea air. King Island was the ideal place. Mr Phillips continued to commute to his bank job in the city.
They got a lot of their food from the surrounding reefs for their survival.

Now the Park will not be built on, but left as it is.

Go for a walk, explore, enjoy, and MAKE SURE YOU ARE BACK BEFORE THE TIDE COMES IN!!!!!
