Talisman - Hotel De Charme, Cairo: "Boutique hotel in Cairo" Egypt Hotel Tip by boshek

Egypt Hotels: 446 reviews and 525 photos

The Talisman is a smart little boutique hotel in a central location - although to be very honest taxis are a very cheap form of transportation and everywhere we went in Cairo was just a EGP10-15 ride away. The air-conditioned rooms are spacious and clean and the rates were much lower than the larger hotel chains on El Gezira or on the banks of the Nile. Do not be put off by the street on which the hotel entrance is located - a quiet side street in a busy commercial district. The hotel is located on the 5th floor of a slightly dilapidated building (a few empty floors) with a quaint old elevator which can only take a small number of passengers and baggages. At busy times you may have to wait some time for it.

If you can look pass the street environment, this hotel is very good value. The rooms are individually and tastefully decorated as are the common areas such as the lounge and the library. Wireless internet access is also complimentary. However due to the busy street location, come rooms may be slightly noisy. Service is friendly and helpful if a little slow at times. The inclusive breakfast is a simple affair with freshly squeezed orange juice, fruits, packaged cereals, some cold cuts cheese and eggs.

Overall I think the hotel is an excellent boutique alternative to the large chain hotels which are all located in the "hotel area" which I believe has been created artificially for tourists. If you want a real taste of "downtown" Cairo, Talisman is a great choice. There are plenty of shops, restaurants nearby which can give good local flavour for those who seek it.

Unique Qualities: Through the hotel we were able to organise most of our sight-seeing activities in Egypt as they have a partnership with Mr. Hamdi El Shora of ( We were very satisfied with all our tours as already elborated in the main introduction.
