Can we say "Bananas Foster" French Toast for breakfast? Yes we can! From the greeting when we arrived to our last farewell we enjoyed our stay at the Savannah Beach Inn. We stayed in the Martus Room which overlooked the back of the house and the park behind the property. Patty, who is the chef and the housekeeper, welcomed us with snacks of cheese, meats, crackers and wine along with a small hallway fridge full of soft drinks and water. From the spacious front porch you can see the water and enjoy the ocean breeze. It's just a short walk to the Tybee Lighthouse and Tybee Island Museum.
Breakfast was prepared by Patty with all of us as her audience. She fixed her delicious Bananas Foster French Toast, and anything else that you might want to ask for. Some of us had scrambled eggs with ham or ham 'n biscuits with grits. The kitchen is a great congregating place - very nice idea.
Craig prepared his special recipe for chocolate chip cookies with milk for an evening glow. Because we were there on a Wednesday, we were treated to an afternoon Dolphin Cruise with Sweet Lowland Tours. We also got a short eco tour and visited Little Tybee Island.
There is a DVD in every room and they have a good video library. There is shampoo, hair conditioner and soap in each bathroom along with white fluffy towels. We also had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
We were able to really have some comfortable "downtime" here - and we hope to come back.

Unique Qualities: This property was originally a home built in 1897 for officers and their families that were stationed at Fort Screven. It's really a great way to use these lovely buildings. There is a lovely park right behind Officers Row with plenty of space for walking and enjoying the live oaks of the South.
