  laksa (Penang style, with assam)
by chatterley

The government built this food centre to house all the relocated hawkers, and this place really comes to life (gets very crowded and noisy) in the evenings. Lots of tourists (with guidebooks in tow) and locals eat here.

We arrived at about 6.30 pm and were able to get a table (this place gets really crowded after 7 pm). While looking around, we saw that quite a number of people were ordering Laksa from this stall, so that's what we did.

The Laksa is different from Singapore's version. Penang Laksa is a tad sour and savoury, with assam added into the broth. No prawns or eggs added, but they had flakes of fish and bean sprouts, plus a spoonful of prawn paste. Very appetizing! It costs just RM 3 per bowl.
