Walking down Navarra, we come to the River, and a bridge (one of the many in Bilbao) This is the Puente de Arenal.
This was to be the third bridge that was built in Bilbao to cross the river (The San Anton and San Francisco suspension bridge being the first two) Plans were initiated in 1844, and a year later the construction of the bridge started. Three years later the work was completed.
It connects the neighbourhoods of Abando and Siete Calles.
Puente de Arenal is now flanked by the Puente de Merced and the Puente del Ayuntamiento.
From the bridge we can enjoy views up and down stream, and also do a spot of 'people watching' There are also some interesting buildings to spot from here. (One that we're heading to next, and one that we'll return to in a while)
Address: Puente de Arenal
