"Nice Hotel on Jack London Square" Waterfront Plaza Hotel Tip by giampiero6

This hotel is a nice, simple hotel...fairly standard issue, but pretty nice. It's right on Jack London square on the waterfront and pedestrian area in Oakland. There are shops, restaurants and a kind of 'festival' area type of feel here typical of urban renewal that seems to work ok - though isn't exactly a huge smashing success. Still the night I stayed there, there was a decent amount of foot traffic, a few restaurants around and in the morning, there was a decent farmers's market (though not as good as the Lake Merrit area one.

Unique Qualities: Miss Pearl's jam house is attached to the hotel, so that's nice and there are some nice ocean view room. (I didn't get one) Also nice is the fact that you can stroll to restaurants and cafes.

One great tip is that the ferry stop is right in front of the hotel, so it would be very easy to fly into oakland, stay here and then spend the day in SF without the need of a car.

All in all, this hotel is nice because of the waterfront and pedestrian setting and is relatively quiet for an urban place. (the seagulls sure do squawk though)
