  Sunset in Uluru
by SirRichard

I didn't have time for a longer stay in the Red Centre, so I took a plane to Uluru and stayed there 3 days, visiting the Rock and the nearby Kata Tjuta (Olgas). It is a very surrealistic place, there is NOTHING there but an airport, 1 only hotel complex and the 2 Rocks. No matter how many times you have seen the pics of the Uluru rock (and you will see it endlessly printed here and there) it really touchs you when you are there, when you see the changing aspects of it, when you walk around it and see its many scarfs and holes and caves and sacred sites...
Despite the touristic aspects of all the Uluru thing (it is like some bizarre Disneykand of the desert) it is a real must when you visit Australia. It is like the Delfos sanctuary in Greece, a place you feel it's the centre of something, though you can't explain really what...
