"Government House" Government House Tip by Mikebb
Government House, Darwin: 4 reviews and 11 photos
Whilst taking the walk along the Esplanade we came to Government House which is home to the Administrator of the Northern Territory.
The beautiful colonial building was built in 1871 on land with outstanding views over Darwin harbour. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the 1.4 hectacres of gardens which have some outstanding species of tropical plants are well worth viewing. Acess to the gardens is restricted, however you can obtain a good view from the street footpath.
The building survived Cyclone Tracy in 1972, whilst most of the city was destroyed.
