"Changed Excercise" Canterbury Things to Do Tip by TheLongTone

Canterbury Things to Do: 272 reviews and 399 photos

As at most English Public Schools, sport played a prominant part in the authorities agenda for their charges. We had to do four 'changed excercises' each week. Any sporting activity strenuous enough to merit changing your togs....and, of course, cricket.

I begged to differ. Luckily, the options included taking yourself off on a 'run'. So I used to closet myself in the History Library, a small annexe of the main library, where one could almost guarantee not to be disturbed, and read my way through the bound back numbers of 'Punch'.

And then put myself down as having gone on a run. Occasionally I'd actually don a tracksuit & trot out of the gates to add a bit of verisimilitude, and I managed to avoid virtually all sport for four years.
