Adjacent to the Euskalduna Bridge is the Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall, constructed on the old shipyards and designed to look like, and symbolise the last ship built here, as if it was permanantly under construction .

It was opened on 19th February1999. The work was by Federico Soriano and Dolores Palacio, and is considered one of the most important contemporary projects by Spanish architects.

It is a multi functional complex, stretching over 53,000 square metres.

Its Main Auditorium has seating for 2,000. Apparently Montserrat Caballé cited this as the most beautiful hall that she had ever sung in. It is known for its exceptional acoustics and impressive organ!
It has Spain's largest, and Europe's second-largest stage.

There are also 3 smaller halls, 8 rehearsal rooms and 7 conference Halls as well as a coffee bar and Restaurant.

Again, I didn't have time (or need) to enter this building, but for those who want a look around

Timetables:

Saturday mornings, guided tours for groups (maximum 30 people) at Midday and 1pm.
Monday-Friday, Saturday afternoons and Sundays, book appointment on tel.: +34 944035000.

Entry fee: General admission: ?2/person (Saturday mornings); ?4/person (Monday-Friday, Saturday afternoons and Sundays for groups: minimum 17, maximum 30 people); ?65/group (for groups smaller than 17 people, in Spanish or Basque; in other languages: 90?). Reduced: ?1 (pensioners and children, Saturday mornings).

Although I didn't get to look around inside, there were some interesting touches outside, including the mesh tree like sculptures.
