This used to be quite a classy, mid-market, full-service establishment which has recently been taken over by the more budget-orientated Premier Inn group, which has hotels all over the UK.

I haven't stayed here since the takeover and subsequent refurbishment but I have stayed with Premier Inn recently and the group tends to be quite consistent across the country.

Rooms will be fairly basic but with all the necessary bits and bobs expected from a reasonable standard hotel including a decent TV, tea and coffee making facilities and of course en-suite bathrooms.

Decor is modern, beds are comfortable and the standard of housekeeping usually very good.

My only gripe with the group is that the in-room internet connection is quite pricey.

Unique Qualities: Even thought there's been a change of ownership the hotel is still in the same place! This magnificent 1930's Art Deco building has a prime location in the town centre, convenient for both beach and boutiques (more B's!) and if arriving by public transport the bus stop is pretty much at the front door (with regular buses to and from the railway station).

Rooms at the front of the hotel offer great views over the Victorian Gardens out to sea.
