Taban District, Budapest: 3 reviews and 4 photos
Cradled in the valley between the steep green sides of Gellert Hill, and the rocky outcrop of Buda Castle, sits the pleasant parks and residential streets of the Taban. The district used to be famous in Budapest for being bohemian with its tight streets filled with restaurants and bars. But in the 1930s it was completely demolished, and most of it now is given over to large parks.
Apart from the roads that exit from Elizabeth bridge, which cover the district in a sprawl of concrete, the whole area is beautiful and relaxing for walks in streets or parks, and is again filled with many excellent bars and restaurants.
Address: Between Buda castle and Gellert Hill
Directions: You can get here from the castle district by exiting on the side away from the river, or from Elizabeth bridge by walking behind the castle under the elevated roads.
