The tram museim is run by volounteers so you are guaranteed an entusiastic response to any questions you may have. Housed in an old tram shelter from which some beautifully restored trams run. (fare 1.50). The original tram system in Manchester fell into disuse in the 1930's and tram lines are covered over by tarmac all over the city, The lines at Heaton Park were uncovered and restored in the late 1970's.
The museum includes a lot of transport memorabilia with a lot of demonstration models and a maitenance bay were you can see trams undergoing restoration.
