South Haven Off The Beaten Path: 2 reviews and 4 photos
About halfway between Saugatuck and South Haven, Michigan on the Blue Star Highway is the town of Glenn, Michigan. In the days before the Interstate made it up here, all cars traveling along the lake shore in Michigan had to travel on the Blue Star Highway through Glenn. Nowadays only a handful of cars travel this road even though it is in great condition. This 2 lane road is only about 1/2 mile at most from the Interstate and thus is a good route to avoid speeding traffic and to slow down a bit and catch some different sites from your vehicle.
As we were heading back to South Haven after our day in Saugatuck, I noticed this unique sign proclaiming Glenn as the Pancake Town. Interestingly enough just yesterday an article was written by Charlotte Weick from the Penasee Globe (a local Michigan newspaper) which gives the history behind the name. Without taking any of her credit here is a link to Charlotte's article.
