This restaurant (or perhaps more accurately bar/café) has arguably the best location of any in Riomaggiore, beating even those down by the harbour for views. It is perched above the sea at the start of the Via dell'Amore, and has a large outdoor terrace shaded from the sun and cooled with refreshing sprays of water. We had a delicious lunch here and sat for some time really enjoying the setting as well as the food and drink.

Favorite Dish: The restaurant is self-service, and the menu explains the system – place your order in the little bar, return to your table to enjoy the view for about ten minutes, then return to the bar to collect your food. Chris and I both had a focaccia sandwich – his with Parma ham and mozzarella, mine with tomatoes and mozzarella. These were really delicious – excellent bread and tasty fillings. Wanting to linger longer I went back to the bar and chose a slice of cake for us to share, along with a nice strong espresso.

The bar is also open in the evenings and would make a great place for a pre-dinner drink although we always headed to the harbour for ours. There are special events some evenings – we spotted adverts for live music events and a wine tasting.
