"Masonry for the father of the country" Washington Monument Tip by Herkbert
Washington Monument, Washington D.C.: 124 reviews and 230 photos
The Washington Monument is a 555ft tall obelisk built between 1848 and 1884 in honor of the first President of the United States, George Washington. As a stone mason, George would be proud of the way the monument rises into the sky seemingly perfectly straight. It is the largest free standing masonry structure in the world.
With its central location in the mall area, the Washington Monument seems like a fitting tribute to our first president and father of the country. It's possible to go up into the monument for a bird's eye view, but the tickets go fast on most days so be sure to get your tickets early.
