"Palazzo Pubblico" Piazza del Campo Tip by acemj

Piazza del Campo, Siena: 114 reviews and 222 photos

The centerpiece of the Piazza del Campo is this Palazzo Pubblico. It has served as Siena's town hall since the 14th century. Unfortunately, I didn't go inside the Palace, but a little research revealed that at one time, the nine governors of Siena met in the Sala della Pace, which is renowned for its Lorenzetti frescoes.

I did, however, climb the tower (Torre del Mangia). It was a little over 5 euros to make the climb, but the views are worth it. Be prepared for a strenuous and narrow stairway! Not for those suffering from claustrophobia or heart troubles.
