"Watch the Sunset, Part I" Fire Island Pines Things to Do Tip by von.otter
Fire Island Pines Things to Do: 12 reviews and 56 photos
“Nobody of any real culture, for instance, ever talks nowadays about the beauty of sunset. Sunsets are quite old fashioned. To admire them is a distinct sign of provincialism of temperament. Upon the other hand they go on.”
— Oscar Wilde quotes (1854-1900)
At Fire Island Pines sunsets still count for something; people still talk about them and still watch them.
From any point facing the southern side of the Great South Bay spectacular sunsets can be seen at Fire Island Pines.
Some people watch the sun set from the main pier in the harbor. At the end of any of the walks (Tuna Walk, Beachhill Walk) that dead-end into the bay there are also good views for the sunset.
Start arriving about 8pm to 8:15 in the high-season months of July and August for a good spot.
