The distance between Portugal mainland (Lisbon) and island of São Miguel (Ponta Delgada) is about 1.450 km. Two airlines have flights from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada, TAP Portugal and SATA Air Açores. I found a better deal with TAP so I booked a flight with them. It was a morning flight, with departure from Lisbon at 9:00am and arrival to Ponta Delgada at 10:30am.

I returned to Lisbon also with a morning flight, with departure at 8:30am and arrival to Lisbon at 11:35am. The flight was operated by SATA. There is an hour difference between the two towns so flights actually take a little over two hours. A return ticket was 196€.

At the airport in Ponta Delgada my dear friend António was waiting for me with the car and brought me to his home - which also became my home for the next 10 days :)
