Antonio advised us to take the time to enjoy the Royal (or National) Palace before we continued up to the Pena Palace at the top of the hill overlooking Sintra. Glad we did, the architecture is very interesting as you will see from some of these photos.
The entrance stairs with the arches where Tal is posing you find quite often in Portugese and also Spanish architecture because of the Arab influence.
The spiral stairwell on the first floor with its adjoining window was a wonderful spot to get a few photos as you can see.
The reception room is closed so you can only look in from the outside, but that parquet floor is to die for.
