Baris Akarsu was a young man from Amasra who participated in Turkish version of "Pop Star" and won the competition. He became the local pride of the town and after his success, Amasra became a more popular place. He was said to be one of the best rock singers of the last decade in Turkey. He died in a tragic car crash few years ago.
